During my weekly visit to the San Francisco Public Library I look over the various flyers and calendars. There’s always a variety of summer reading programs and youth activities available, but today I found something different: the Family Pass.
The pass provides FREE entrance to several San Francisco attractions for up to two adults per group, and four kids under the age of 18. Getting one is pretty easy too; just head over to your nearest neighborhood library and ask the librarian. Passes are still available, but are in limited supply. You must me a San Francisco resident with a valid library card to be eligible.
I was amazed by the list of places to visit on the Family Pass, which includes:
- Aquarium of the Bay
- Asian Art Museum
- California Academy of Sciences
- California Historical Society
- Cartoon Art Museum
- Conservatory of Flowers
- Contemporary Jewish Museum
- Exploratorium
- Hass-Lilienthal House
- Museum of Craft and Folk Art
- Museum of African Diaspora
- SF Museum of Modern Art
- San Francisco Zoo
Each Family Pass is valid for one visit in one week to one of the participating attractions. Only paper passes issued by San Francisco Public Libraries can be used, and must be prior to the printed due date. No reservations and/or waiting lists apply. There’s no excuse for being bored and hanging around the house this summer with all that there is to do and see—not to mention—it’s FREE! The Family Pass is made possible by the generosity of the Participating Attractions, San Francisco Children’s Fund, Department of Children, Youth & Their Families, and San Francisco Public Library.
