If you have been putting off organizing and cleaning your home for a while but are planning to move to a new home in Philadelphia in the next couple of months, then this would be the perfect time to start organizing all of your belongings. However, if you have not been able to organize the clutter in your home for several months or even years, then you need to prepare yourself as you might find the process a bit overwhelming.
Before doing the actual packing, it would be good to have a complete supply of cleaning materials and packing materials. Some of the packing materials that you might to have plenty of have would be boxes of different sizes, packaging tape, labels, markers and packing material such as packing peanuts and bubble wrap. By making sure you have all the supplies you need, it would be easier to organize everything you need to pack and pack them properly to prevent them from getting damaged during transit.
Sorting is another important thing that you need to do so that you would be able to properly organize the items you would be bringing in the boxes. You can sort your items in three groups: things to pack, things to sell or donate and things to throw away. For things that need to be thrown away, make sure to throw them out. For the things you can sell or donate, you can hold a yard sale and the proceeds of what you would be able to sell can go towards your moving expenses. All the things that are not sold can either be donated or disposed of. For the items you need to pack, you can then further sort them out so that they can be placed in boxes that would go to the specific rooms where they will be unpacked later on.
